FAQs
Question And Answer
What is counselling, and how is it different from talking to a friend?
Counselling is a professional, confidential partnership focused on your psychological well-being. Unlike talking to a friend, a counsellor provides a neutral, non-judgmental space with trained skills to help you understand patterns, develop coping strategies, and facilitate lasting change, rather than giving direct advice
How do I know if I need counselling?
Counselling is for anyone seeking to strengthen themselves, navigate life challenges, or pursue personal growth. Common reasons include stress, relationship issues, anxiety, grief, life transitions, feeling stuck, or simply wanting to understand yourself better.
Is counselling only for people with serious mental health issues?
Not at all. Many bright, stable individuals seek counselling for everyday issues like stress, relationship dynamics, career decisions, and personal development. It’s a tool for anyone wanting to live a more fulfilling and intentional life.
What can I expect in a first session?
The first session is about connection and understanding. We’ll discuss what brings you in, your history, and your hopes for therapy. Specific interventions may be utilized to address concerns. It’s a chance for you to see if you feel comfortable and for us to plan a way forward together. There’s no need to prepare anything specific.
How many sessions will I need?
There’s no fixed number as it depends on your unique goals and progress. We will regularly review your journey together. Some find clarity in a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support.
Do you offer online or phone counselling?
Yes, online therapy can be just as effective as in-person sessions, offering convenience and accessibility. We can discuss the best format (in-person at our Havelock Road office or online) to suit your needs.
How do I book an appointment?
You can contact us via the enquiry form on the website, or call/WhatsApp +65 8777 8820.
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
We require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. This allows us to offer the slot to others in need.
Is everything I say confidential?
Absolutely. Confidentiality is the foundation of our work. Nothing you share is disclosed without your consent, except in rare, specific circumstances required by law (e.g., risk of harm to self or others)
How can I pay for sessions?
Payment is required before or at the time of the session, via bank transfer or other agreed-upon methods.
Can I use my insurance or Medisave to pay for sessions?
Counselling fees are typically not claimable from Medisave. Some corporate insurance plans may offer coverage for mental wellness services. We can provide a receipt for you to submit a claim to your insurer, subject to your plan’s terms.
What is the Reflective Weight Calibration Model (RWCM)?
The RWCM is a supervisory framework that I have developed. It explores how principles from machine learning can offer a new lens to understand the processes of reflection, intuition, and professional growth in counsellors.
