For a long time, I felt like I was carrying a heavy burden. It wasn’t just one thing, but a general sense of being weighed down, unable to truly relax or feel in control of my emotions. One specific trigger was taking the train. The moment I’d walk onto a crowded platform or feel the doors close behind me, that familiar wave of panic and trapped feeling would hit. I knew I needed help to manage these feelings, not just to cope, but to genuinely feel lighter.
From the very first moment, the session felt different. We started with a simple mindfulness exercise, just connecting with my breath and my body. It was in that quiet moment that a huge realisation hit me: I wasn’t sure if I even allowed myself to relax. That one question, “Can I allow myself to be too relaxed?” shifted something in me. It showed me how deeply my tension was woven into my daily life.
The real breakthrough came when we worked on my anxiety. Sin Teck had me imagine all my worry and panic as a physical object. I visualised it as this big, heavy, sticky lump of clay. Then, he guided me to literally throw it away from me, to place it in front of me in the room. We then did some visualization work, and each time I looked back at that “clay,” it had changed. It went from a huge lump, to half the size, to a small pebble, and finally, to dust that just crumbled and dissipated into the air. I could physically feel the weight lifting off my shoulders. For the first time in years, the thought of my next train ride felt manageable, and I felt a genuine sense of freedom.
This session was so much more than just a venting session. It was deeply personal. I walked out feeling lighter and more equipped to handle not just my fears, but the underlying patterns of tension in my life. If you’re feeling weighed down by anxiety, I can’t recommend his approach enough. It gave me the tools to not just cope, but to truly change how I hold my worries.
